Today in the week 3 tutorial we talked about using different platforms to communicate one idea. This is something that has been around for a while now and many people do it. For example well known bands not only have CD’s out but they have websites, Facebook pages, Twitter Accounts, YouTube accounts and so on. Although I have been aware of this I have never took the time to consider how I could use this for my own benefit.
Here is a basic run through of what to do:
The main idea is to record whatever content you are interested in. It doesn’t matter if you are into films , music, photography or writing of any sort. The next thing to do is to publish the material to suitable platform. If its music then get it onto Soundcloud or iTunes, if its a video then put it up onto YouTube, if you are into writing then get on WordPress or BlogSpot and start publishing your work. The next and most important way to get your material seen is then by distributing your material over a number of different platforms. If you are in a band and you have recorded a few songs and uploaded them to soundcloud, upload the same material to YouTube. Make a Facebook and Twitter account and have links to each of your different platforms so that your material is in the best position to be seen by a wider audience. By taking advantage of the networks available online, you are putting yourself in the best position possible for your work to be seen by wider audience, and that could be beneficial in many ways, wether that be money, popularity or just getting your content out there.
